Gallery Talk: (How) Does Conscious Consumption Matter? Jan. 10, 2020 at Madison Museum of Contemporary Art

Please join me, and UW professor of Community and Environmental Sociology Jane Collins, at the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art on Friday, January 10, 2020 at 5:30 p.m. for a Gallery Talk: (How) Does Conscious Consumption Matter?

This event brings art and sociology into an active conversation about how we consume and whether changing our consumption habits matters.

In Jennifer Bucheit’s project "Again and Again: A Reflection on Consumer Culture," featured in the "Wisconsin Triennial," she presents photographs of the paper packaging that she encounters in everyday life, encouraging reflection on the life cycle of the goods, the messages the packaging conveys, and the implications of personal consumerism.

Jane Collins uses recent sociological evidence to open up the question of whether, by changing our individual consumption practices, we can solve large-scale problems such as climate change and inequality.

"Again & Again" Featured on the IFCNR Blog

I was so honored to be interviewed and featured on the IFCNR (The International Foundation for the Conservation of Natural Resources) blog recently. Sending a huge thank you to Michelle Aberson and IFCNR for the support and all they do to raise awareness about contemporary environmental issues.

Again & Again featured on Lenscratch

I can’t begin to describe how excited I am to share that my series of photographs, “Again & Again: A Reflection on Consumer Culture,” was featured on Lenscratch yesterday! I’ve been a huge fan of this fantastic website for so many years—this is such an honor. Sending a giant thank you to the Lenscratch team and Aline Smithson for this opportunity and support.

Accepted into Catherine Edelman Gallery's "The Chicago Project"

For the past three years, the submission guidelines for Catherine Edelman Gallery’s “The Chicago Project” have been pinned on my wall. “The Chicago Project” is an online gallery dedicated to Chicago-area photographers with the goal of exposing their work to a wider audience. This past January I finally felt ready to submit my portfolio, and I could not be more thrilled to announce that I have been invited to participate. A big thank you to the Catherine Edelman Gallery for choosing my work! You can check out the initial announcement on their “Cyclops” blog page.
